The Missourian has delivered a new resource, “Using the Newspaper to Meet Common Core Standards” to K-12 classroom teachers area schools.

The educational guide offers student activities on three different levels tied to the Language Arts College and Career Anchor Standards.

The newspaper is a timely, relevant and affordable source of nonfiction text that allows teachers to meet their classroom goals and students to master the skills of the Missouri Learning Standards, CCSS.

The Missourian In Education program continues to partner with community individuals, organizations and businesses to offer classroom newspapers at no cost to schools. We deliver the weekend edition to schools on Monday.

Classroom newspapers may be ordered online at An order form also is included on the back cover of each booklet distributed to schools.

In addition to newspapers and teacher resources, Missourian In Education provides educational features in every weekend issue of the newspaper. We also provide in-service training to schools and sponsor several community events including Run to Read (Oct. 12), Family Reading Night (March 7) and The Bee (March 22) .
