Board Book Will Help Youngsters With Counting Skills

You can count on little ones loving books with photos of cute little animals. “Numbers, (Picture This),” by Judith Nouvi, has a bevy of creatures children can name and count too. This enchanting board book is the June Baby Buzz Pick, suggested by the Washington School District Parents as Teachers.

Each month the group, in partnership with “The Missourian,” selects a book for children birth to age 5. A review of each month’s Baby Buzz Pick appears in the second weekend issue of “The Missourian.” The parent educators then purchase additional copies of the book to use in the visits with children, their parents and caretakers.

The following review was written by Sandi Gildehaus, coordinator, Parents as Teachers.

“Summer time is the best time for trips to the zoo, the park and all around the neighborhood. As you explore and have new adventures practice counting with your youngsters because numbers are everywhere!

“’Numbers, (Picture This),’ is a board book with bright, vibrant photographs. From first page to last readers are sure to enjoy the images of real life animals in their natural habitats. The text of the book is simple, with interesting, fun facts for curious youngsters.

“Other books in this series are ‘Homes,’ ‘Shapes,’ and ‘Colors.’”
