Shaw Nature Reserve will hold its annual wildflower market this Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A pre-sale will be open to Garden members only on Friday, May 12, from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Shaw Nature Reserve and several nurseries from throughout the area will offer hundreds of varieties of Missouri native annual and perennial wildflowers, ferns, trees and shrubs to use in home landscaping and to attract wildlife. The sale will feature the showiest and hardiest native plants for sun or shade, including purple coneflower, butterfly milkweed, blazing star, dwarf crested iris, cardinal flower, compass plant, wild phlox, ostrich fern, red buckeye, fringe tree and short-leaf pine.

Plants will be for sale from Shaw Nature Reserve, Wild Ones, Missouri Wildflowers Nursery, Forest Keeling Nursery, Andy’s Native Plants, St. Francis Mountain Natives, Garden Green and Pure Air Native Seeds.

All vendors accept cash or checks. Missouri Wildflower Nursery accepts credit cards, cash or checks.

Missouri native plants of the prairie, wetland, woodland and savanna will be available. All plants sold will be nursery propagated (i.e., not wild harvested).

Signs will direct visitors to a special entrance on the western boundary of the Nature Reserve, with plenty of free parking.

Admission is $5 per person, $3 for seniors age 65 and older and students. It is free to Missouri Botanical Garden members and Shaw Nature Reserve passholders and their children (age 18 and under).
