The seventh-graders at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, 1014 Madison Ave., Washington, will hold a special Mass of Community for people with disabilities this Sunday, May 21, at 1 p.m.
This Mass was inspired by Pope Francis, who stated, “We need to see each child as a gift to be welcomed, cherished and protected . . . ,” which is the atmosphere the students are trying to provide.
Everyone is invited to attend. The Mass is especially for families with a member who has special needs, either developmental or physical.
The Mass will be adapted to fit the needs of the people attending. The Mass will be shorter, the lighting will be softer, and there will be greeters to help families feel comfortable.
The church is fully accessible with ramps and an elevator.
After the Mass, everyone is invited to the Parish Hall for a social gathering.
This will be a great chance for people to go to Mass together as a family.
