World Community Day, sponsored by Church Women United, will be observed Tuesday, Nov. 12, at First Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Main, Union. It will begin with a brunch at 9:30 a.m. served by the women of the church.
All women and men of all churches are invited to this day which celebrates “meeting your neighbor in a spirit of community.” The program theme will be “Behold I Stand at the Door and Knock — Walking Through the Door of Opportunity.”
This theme will be presented by Ms. Diane Disbro, director of the Scenic Regional Library in Union. The theme is based on the Scripture Revelations 3:20 where Jesus stands at the door and knocks.
Questions to be asked and thought about in this theme are: What are the barriers we raise in our communities to unity and peace? What will bring more unity? How can we honor both our diversity and our unity?
Officers of Church Women United will be installed by the Rev. Linda Maconochie. These include Co-Presidents Carol Gruber and Dorothy Clarkson; Vice President Virginia Van Leer; Secretary the Rev. Jocelyn Van Buskirk; and Treasurer Eva Adams.
Church Women United meets the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Union. All churches are welcome to send a representative to the meetings. Please call Carol Gruber, 636-583-2329, for more information.
