Bicycle Fun Club Plans April Events

Trailnet’s April Bicycle Fun Club has the following events planned:

• Spring Chicken Bicycle Ride, Sunday, April 14, registration is 7:30 to 9 a.m., beginning at the American Legion, 7236 Illinois Route 15, St. Libory, Ill.

This ride in the Kaskaskia River bottoms takes in beautiful prairie scenery from roads that see little traffic. Chicken and beer can be purchased at the American Legion after the ride.

Short, medium and long routes are offered. Terrain is flat to rolling with no big hills.

If you go: From Interstate 64 and IL-4 (exit 23), go south 12 miles to IL-15, turn left and go 5 miles to St. Libory. Turn left on IL-15 and the American Legion is on the right.

The bike shop sponsor is Maplewood Bicycle.

• Bike St. Louis City Tour, Sunday, April 28, 7:30 to 9 a.m., beginning at Anheuser-Busch InBev, One Busch Place, St. Louis.

Pedal the Bike St. Louis route, a Great Rivers Greenway project, on this urban ride that features some of St. Louis’ most distinctive neighborhoods and destinations including Soulard, Lafayette Park, Tower Grove Park, and the Central West End. The route also includes a stop at the Penrose Park Velodrome.

This urban ride is recommended for experienced cyclists. Short, medium and long routes are available on this ride that is flat to rolling, with some moderate hills.

If you go: From downtown St. Louis take Interstate 55 south, exit at Arsenal Streeet. (exit 206C) and go left. At South Broadway turn left, and then left on Lynch Street. The parking lot is on the left.

This ride is sponsored by Great Rivers Greenway. The bike shop sponsor is South Side Cyclery.
