‘This Is a Need We Can Get Rid of’

Jordan Connell, a 2007 graduate of Union High School, runs down Highway 50 in Union last October on his journey running from New York to California visiting youth homeless shelters along the way. He completed the run Jan. 15 and now is in the beginning stages of gathering information and networking with others to establish a youth homeless shelter and youth center in Franklin County.  Submitted Photos.

Team 314, a group of local volunteers working to end youth homelessness, will hold a “Youth in Crisis” rally Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at The Crux, 2396 Highway A in Washington.

A feature story on Jordan Connell, who ran across the country from New York to California at the end of last year to raise awareness of and learn more about youth homelessness, appeared in The Feb. 2-3 issue of The Missourian.

Connell’s dream is to establish a youth center in Franklin County that would offer young people a place to go after school and even be open late some nights. He also wants to see a youth shelter built to offer homeless a place to go.
