Local Franklin County geocachers will participate in a St. Louis area event that combines geocaching with trash pickup — known as “Cache In, Trash Out” (CITO) — on Sunday, April 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Clearview Park area in Union as part of the Earth Day weekend celebration.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt where people use GPS devices and clues to find things other people have hidden in public places.

Multiple cites have been chosen around the greater St. Louis area to be part of the event.

Volunteers will meet to clean up an area at Clearview and Bend roads where there is a nature trail and several geocaches.

Anyone is welcome to attend. Please wear gloves and dress for the trail.

For more information, people should contact Candy Grisham at 636-583-2786 or visit www.geocaching.com.
