ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments) is seeking sponsors for its annual Adopt-A-Family program for Christmas.

ALIVE, Alternatives for Living in Violent Environments, provides counseling, emergency sanctuary and other critical services to adults and children affected by domestic abuse.

The Adopt-A-Family program helps families affected by domestic abuse enjoy the holidays through generous sponsors providing gifts and in-kind donations.

Sponsors who adopt a family will be given a description of the family, including the first name and age of each member and wish and need list. All items for the family should be wrapped with tags identifying the parent/child who is to receive the gift.

Items should be new.

In addition to the wish/need list, other items that are welcomed are gift cards for gas, groceries, Wal-Mart and Target; toiletries like toilet paper, laundry detergent, soap and toothpaste; cleaning supplies; baby items like diapers, wipes, food and blankets; and nonperishable food items like canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal and peanut butter.

The completed holiday care package will be coordinated for pickup by a member of the ALIVE volunteer staff.

The last day to receive items will be Friday, Dec. 14, by 3 p.m. in order for the gifts to be delivered to the family in time for the holidays.

To adopt a family or for more information, people should call 636-583-9863.
