Class Offers Help in Supporting Child Who Has Seen Violence

A free three-hour training class for foster parents, CASAs and caregivers of children in temporary placements will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church basement, 105 E. Main St., Union.

The class will focus on how to support a child who has witnessed violence. Topics will include the cycle of violence, common dysfunctional behaviors, the effects on children, supporting reunification goals, parenting strategies, safety planning, stress responses and resources.

People should enter at the handicap ramp/double doors on Cherry Street.

Registration will be taken at the door.
