Registration is open until Friday, May 24, for Confidently Home Alone, a workshop for children ages 9 to 13 who supervise themselves at home for part of the day.

In the class, children learn essential self-care and self-protection skills, including how to handle emergencies, phone calls and visitors, and protect themselves from abuse. Parents and children also will learn how to negotiate household rules.

The workshop will be held Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the educational services classrooms at the Mercy Medical Building North, 851 E. Fifth St. in Washington. Children attend from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents join the session from noon to 2 p.m.

Confidently Home Alone is sponsored by Crider Health Center and Mercy Hospital Washington. The fee is $25 for one child, $35 for two children, and $45 for three children from the same family.

Enrollment is limited to 18 children and their parents and registration is required. To register, people should call 636-239-8004.
