The Second Annual Bethany Springs Prairie Festival to benefit the Missouri Prairie Foundation will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at Bethany Springs Farm in Berger (eight miles east of Hermann).
The two-day event will include a plein-air paint out for artists, an art show, live music, winetasting, botany walks and family earth walks, as well as performances by Earth Mirror Marrionettes.
Admission is free.
Guests can shop for paintings and fine crafts made by the artists, join the Paint Out or watch painters at work. Thirty percent of art sale proceeds will benefit the conservation work of the Missouri Prairie Foundation.
Guests also can bring their own picnic lunch and enjoy the 165-wooded and native grassland acres of the 1874 farm owned by Theresa and Joe Long.
Botany walks through the prairie will be guided by Dr. Quinn Long and Dr. James Trager of the Missouri Botanical Garden.
Artists can register to participate in the Paint Out by calling Theresa Long at 636-375-8338 or visiting bethanysprings.com.
Featured artists include Martha Younkin, Theresa Long, Katie Kantley, Guy Sachs, Jan Trager, Mary Coulter, Ann Grotjan, Julie Wiegand and Coyle Studio Creations.
The event is sponsored by Theresa and Joe Long, Randy Washburn, Roeslein Alternative Energy and Whole Foods Market®.
