Meramec Caverns will celebrate its 80th anniversary and its Franklin County heritage by offering special events and discount admission during Franklin County Day this Saturday, Sept. 14. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the iconic Route 66 attraction near Stanton.

Visitors will enjoy a huge birthday cake aglow with 80 candles. Along with birthday cake and ice cream, guests also will receive half-price admission on cave tours, Meramec River boat rides and the thrilling Caveman Zip Line adventure. Complimentary popcorn and soft drinks and live musical entertainment round out the freebies.

A granite memorial to the late Lester and Mary Dill, longtime Franklin County residents and founders of Meramec Caverns, will be unveiled during a special anniversary ceremony.

Entries in the Meramec Caverns 80th Anniversary Photo Contest will be displayed and the winners announced and awarded cash prizes. Photo contest details are available at www.AmericasCave.com.
