Strauser 50th Wedding Anniversary

Martin and Paula Strauser, Sullivan, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 17, 2013, with an open house at New Hope Baptist Church. The celebration was given by their son, Martin Jr. (Marty), wife Debra and church friends.

The Strausers were united in marriage Aug. 17, 1963, at the First Baptist Church, Esther. The Rev. Defreese officiated at the ceremony.

Martin graduated from Sullivan High School, Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in education and Central Missouri State University with a Master of Science. He taught high school industrial technology for 31 years at St. Clair and retired from teaching in 1998.

Paula graduated from Esther High School and Missouri University, Columbia, with a Bachelor of Science in education and Maryville University, St. Louis, with a Master of Science in elementary education. She taught elementary school for 26 years, retiring from St. Clair Elementary in 2000.

Paula then taught for Missouri Baptist University.

The Martins live on a farm, run a cow-calf operation and love to travel.

Their children are Martin Jr. and Debbie, St. Clair, and Shane and Elizabeth, High Ridge. They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
