Keith and Shirley Freund, Crystal Lake, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Freund, Kansas City, to Jacob Shroyer, Kansas City, son of Ronald and Jo Ellen Shroyer, Boonville.

Ashley is the granddaughter of Betty Freund, Cary, Ill., and Angela Jakubowski, Phoenix, Ariz. She is a 2003 graduate of Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., a 2006 graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville and a 2009 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City. She is employed as a case supervisor with Jackson County CASA in Kansas City.

Jacob is the grandson of Irene Ming, Union. He is a 2003 graduate of Boonville High School in Boonville and a 2008 graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville. He is employed as a police officer with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department.

The couple plan an Oct. 20, 2013, wedding in Kansas City.
