Seventeen market hogs shown in the 2013 open class competition at the Washington Fair were donated to various charities in the area.
The open class is separate from the regular market hog judging classes and features animals raised by area hog producers.
The “fun” part of the show is that it features small children herding hogs around the show ring.
The hogs were divided into two classes for judging at the close of the market hog competition Thursday, Aug. 8.
The grand champion of the open show was entered by Deppe Farms and exhibited by Blake Deppe and Elizabeth and Olivia Reed. It was donated to the Franklin County FFA Foundation.
The reserve grand champion was shown by Ryleigh Rehmeier, Augusta. It was donated to Augusta Elementary PTO.
