Library Celebrates Banned Book Week

These celebrations bring attention to the right of all people to “seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular,” according to the American Library Association.

Beginning in 2013, a book club dedicated to reading banned and challenged books will meet at the library at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. The January selection is “Fahrenheit 451” written by Ray Bradbury.

Other selections to be read in 2013 include “The Ugly American,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” “The Chocolate War,” and “Black Like Me.”
