Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit is again offering its Habitat Helpers program for fifth-graders.

The program is designed to help participants build knowledge of the natural world by using hands-on activities.

Students will explore prairies, woodlands and aquatic communities, as well as help with some special events at Shaw Nature Reserve.

Meetings are held once a month from September to May, with a few special meetings also planned.

For more information or to request an application, call Karen Bryan, 636-451-3512, extension 6008, or email Karen.bryan@mobot.org. Applications also may be picked up at the visitor center. Applications must be turned in by Aug. 15.

Shaw Nature Reserve is a 2,400-acre natural area located a short distance off Interstate 44 at the Gray Summit exit 253.
