The first Family and Friends Scavenger Hunt sponsored by the Washington Historical Society will be held this Sunday, July 1.

It will begin and end at the Historical Society Museum at the corner of Fourth and Market streets.

Expenses are being underwritten by the Bank of Washington.

The starting time for the scavenger hunt is 2 p.m. when instructions and clue sheets will be given. Teams will then have one hour to “hunt” and will return to the museum for the tallying of points and awarding of prize money.

Prize money will be given in the amount of $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Each team will be given a treasure bag containing items and coupons from local businesses.

The scavenger hunt will be a bit different from a regular scavenger hunt. Teams will be provided with a clue sheet and the Washington Historical Society Self-Guided Brochure to help in figuring out where to go.

Once a team figures out where to go, they go there to find a point sheet. Different locations will be worth different point values. Self-guided brochures can be found in advance at the museum, visitor center on Front Street, and many businesses in Downtown Washington.

One team consists of one carfull of up to six people. The entry fee is $5 per team/car. It is highly recommended that teams register in advance by paying in person at the nuseum at Fourth and Market.
