The annual Saint Louis Art Fair will kick off Sept. 7 in downtown Clayton and continue through Sunday evening, Sept. 9.

This year’s fair will feature the artwork of many talented young artists ages 8 to 18 who were given the opportunity to exhibit and sell their art at the event through a new program called “Create,” made possible by a record $100,000 donation from Sterling Bank.

“Fine art lets people express their individuality while uniting them at the same time,” said Sterling Bank Chairman and CEO Ken Poteet.

With this in mind, Poteet has filled his bank with many valuable antiques and works of art, and wants to further art appreciation in Saint Louis.

The “Art That Sparks” fireworks presentation will send energy over Clayton on Saturday around 10 p.m. The best place to view the fireworks is right near the Main Stage.

Everyone’s traditional favorites are returning too:

• 181 artists from around the United States and Canada will exhibit 14 mediums of art — from paintings to printmaking and sculpture to ceramics.

These will include local artists Michael Bauermeister, Sam Stang, both of Augusta, and Tony Cray, New Melle.

• Three performance stages featuring live music and entertainment.

• Pleasures of the Palate will offer food from St. Louis’ finest restaurants.

• Creative Castle lets kids express their artistic energy and talents.

For 19 years, the Saint Louis Art Fair has ranked high among the most prestigious art fairs in the country.

Hours will be:

Friday, Sept. 7, 5-10 p.m.;

Saturday, Sept. 8, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; and

Sunday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
