If so, the City of Pacific is looking for you. We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Planning Director. This is a Department head level position that is responsible for overseeing the planning and zoning, building, floodplain management, and code enforcement activities of the City. This position also fills the Building Commissioner role for the City. This position is a key part of the City’s management team and is closely involved with the City’s short- and long-term strategic planning efforts and initiatives. This position is appointed by the Mayor, subject to consent of the Board of Aldermen, and reports directly to the City Administrator. The ideal candidate will have a degree in public administration, civil engineering, architecture, construction management or closely related field. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and/or Certified Floodplain Manager credentials is highly desirable. International Code Council certifications, and/or the ability to achieve certifications in six months is also desired. The ideal candidate will have a background in local government, preferably in an administrative and/or supervisory role. The pay range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
