Washington, Mo.

Washington, Missouri, is seeking to fill the position of Community and
Economic Development Director. Washington is a community located on
the banks of the Missouri River, approximately 50 miles west of St. Louis.
The community is a major regional employment center in manufacturing,
retail and health care industries.
Washington, Missouri, markets industrial property within established
parks, including Heidmann Industrial Park, which is recognized as Certified
Sites through the Department of Economic Development. The community
is also recognized as a Certified Work Ready Community through Franklin
County and is supported by a local community college, East Central College,
Four Rivers Career Center, Washington School District, as well as parochial
schools such as St. Francis Borgia Regional High School.
The City of Washington has a well-established partnership with the
Washington Area Chamber of Commerce (second largest chamber in the
St. Louis Metropolitan area) and the local Downtown Washington, Inc.,
a National and Missouri Main Street Community which was nationally
recognized as a Great American Main Street Award winner in 2012.
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Economic Development, Public
Administration, Marketing or related field
• Certified Economic Developer and/or American Institute of Certified
Planners preferred
• Minimum of five years’ general management experience
• Demonstrate strong communication, marketing and collaborative skills
