Operation Food Search (OFS), a non-profit hunger relief organization, will hold a Cooking Matters at the Store® Tour Event Day. The 20-minute self-guided interactive grocery store tour shows local families and individuals how to make healthy, affordable shopping choices.
The tour is part of OFS’ celebration of National Nutrition Month®, which is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will offer tours of the supermarket’s produce, bakery, meat, and dairy departments. Participants will observe a live cooking demonstration to help them learn how to prepare and cook nutritious meals at home. Schnuck Markets will feature various food sampling stations for customers that introduce healthy, family-friendly meal choices. The first 150 participants will receive a $10 grocery gift card upon tour completion.
