If you're still making plans on how to kick off the New Year, here's an option: Make tracks for the all-new New Year's Celebration at Silver Dollar City, on both New Year's Eve and Day.
The 1880s-theme park will be open for business with its spectacular 6.5 million Christmas lights from now through Jan. 1, if you want to savor a little more Christmas cheer before the season ends.
For the New Year's festivities, the park's four indoor venues will feature special entertainment.
Music and comedy are hallmarks of the park's ever-popular Silver Dollar Saloon, and both are in full force with an all-new original production of the Biff Barker New Year's Radio Show. Become part of the live studio audience as make-believe radio station KSDC rings in the New Year with madcap entertainment. It's like stepping back in time to the Golden Age of radio as you laugh and sing along through a stroll down memory lane.
At the Playhouse, world-famous juggler, comedian and variety artist Albert Lucas will put a smile on your face with his unique brand of fun. Lucas has toured the globe, with appearances ranging from his one-man show to late-night television talk shows to performing at NBA games.
Three musical groups will perform during the NewYear's celebration, including AYO, Disciple and Members Only.
AYO is an award-winning show featuring a trio of powerhouse siblings called the Voices of Glory. These entertainers will take you on a musical journey featuring current and classic hits from every genre of music. Recently seen on America’s Got Talent and also voted as the number one morning show in Branson, AYO is a popular Branson group whose voices will inspire you as you begin the New Year.
A good way to start a new year is by celebrating faith and looking forward to the coming year with hope. With that in mind, Silver Dollar City presents the Christian rock band, Disciple. Disciple has been touring and performing since 1992 and has recorded 14 number one singles and received several Dove awards.
No New Year’s celebration is complete without a rockin’ Dance Party. Silver Dollar City welcomes the '80s tribute band, Members Only, to help ring in the New Year at the Red Gold Heritage Hall Dance Party.
Of course, there's always time to wander through the park and ogle the millions of lights, especially the new-this-year addition of the Christmas in Midtown light spectacular. It's easy to see why The Travel Channel calls Silver Dollar City "The Most Illuminated Park on Earth."
If that Christmas gift money you received is burning a hole in your pocket, you'll enjoy browsing through the shops for the New Year's Celebration Sale, featuring 20 percent off all Silver Dollar City merchandise. (Valid only Dec. 31, 2017, and Jan. 1, 2018. Excludes lease shops and heirloom craft products.)
While you're in Branson, consider another option for ringing in the New Year. The Showboat Branson Belle offers a special New Year's Eve cruise from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The cruise includes a three-course meal and musical variety show, followed by live music and dancing. Enjoy the countdown to midnight with sparkling grape juice and party favors.
The boat provides an ideal vantage point for enjoying midnight fireworks over Table Rock Lake (weather permitting).
Additional year-end two-hour lake cruises will be offered at 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Call 800-775-2628 for reservations.
Silver Dollar City hours through the end of the season are: Dec. 29 and 30, 11a.m. to 10 p.m.; Dec. 31, 11 a.m. to 7 p..m.; Jan. 1, noon to 8 p.m. The park will then close until spring. For more information, visit www.silverdollarcity.com or call 800-775-2628.
