You learn something new everyday—though I’ve reviewed books for “The Missourian” for 15 plus years, I recently discovered a fun fact about picture books.

At a presentation by John Schumacher, AKA, “Mr. Schu,” a teacher/librarian turned Ambassador of School Libraries for Scholastic Book Fairs, I was introduced to the practice of “undressing books,” removing the dust jacket of a picture book to get a gander at the actual cover.

It’s great fun to have a peek, the cover often quite different from the dust jacket. Take a look at several I discovered, all Book Buzz Picks; then get to undressing books yourself. Share your literary finds with young readers – they’re sure to love these little surprises as much as you.

Just FYI, the dust jackets in the examples shown are pictured at left, and the actual covers are at right. Page On!
