Francie is the main character in this third book of the “Family Tree” series published by Scholastic. This book is set in the 1980’s. In second grade, Francie meets her best friend, Kaycee.

One day on her way home, Francie was almost kidnapped, so every day after that when she woke up she would look for a black station wagon, because that was the kind of car the man who tried to kidnap her drove.

Francie did not tell her parents about the man. Soon after that, her parents get a divorce. Francie was not happy, but she got over it. Then her Uncle Peter moves in with her mother, Dana, who was the main character in the second book in the series, ‘The Long Way Home.’ Peter has special needs and needs to be supervised.

“Francie continues through school and then goes to college.

“I liked this book a lot. I liked how the author added family members from the first and second book.

“I look forward to reading the next book in the series. In that book Francie will be grown up, and the main character will be her daughter.
