Kids clamoring for something to do? They can take a book to the pool—check one out at your local library.While you’re there, take part in some of the exciting programs Washington Public and Scenic Regional Library are offering for the kiddie-set. Here are two upcoming programs and details on a photo contest for kids the Missourian is sponsoring.

This Saturday, June 21, will be a zoo at Washington Public Library when Serengeti Steve brings “The Reptile Experience” to town. The program is from 10-11 a.m. Children can expect to get up close and personal with reptiles, arachnids, and insects. Creepy-crawly fun is in store for one and all.

Juggling Jeff, magician and wonder juggler, will be making the rounds at Scenic Regional Library. As skilled with a hula hoop as with spinning fire, Juggling Jeff will present his variety show at Scenic’s Union Branch next Wed., June 25 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Snap away kids, ages 9-13, the Missourian is sponsoring a unique photo contest. The Photo Scavenger Hunt is based on a similar contest in the June Book Buzz Pick "Half a Chance," by Cynthia Lord. One winner will receive a camera. Runners up will receive an autographed copy of the book!

Young photographers submit a CD with one photo that best shows each of the words or phrases on our Official Entry Form. The deadline to submit entries is Aug. 1.
