Next Wednesday, May 14th, at 1:30 p.m., Friends of Washington Public Library will sponsor a presentation by author and professional quilter Ann M. Hazelwood of St. Charles. Her book talk will be held in the lower level meeting room.

Hazelwood has written a number of books, including four novels, each of which contains a “quilting story,” she said. The next book in the series, “The Jane Austen Book Club” will be published in July.

Hazelwood invites quilt enthusiasts to bring their own quilts to the library to share with the group.

There’s still time to get “Killing Mr. Griffin” read by the time the Banned and Challenged Book Club meets next Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at Scenic Regional Library in Union. Find out why author Lois Duncan’s book is considered controversial. “What started as a prank ends up as murder….”

Next month, the book club will read and discuss, “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” by Khaled Hosseini. Discussion leader for The B.A.CH. Book Club is Diane Disbro, Union Branch Manager at Scenic Regional Library, and a regular reviewer on MO Books Blog.
