PERRYVILLE, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri teenager is facing multiple counts of statutory rape and child molestation for allegedly having sex with six eighth-grade girls in two counties.
The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/12Ioh1C ) reports that court filings accuse Austin Luye, 18, of Perryville, of approaching girls first on Facebook, arranging a meeting, then luring them to a secluded place for sex.
Luye is charged in Perry and St. Francois counties. He is jailed in the St. Francois County Jail in Farmington on $110,000 cash-only bond. His attorney, Jason Tilley, declined comment Monday.
Police say the crimes happened over a four-month period ending in January, mostly at the homes of Luye’s parents — his mother lives near Longtown in St. Francois County, his father in Perryville. Luye was 17 when some of the alleged acts occurred but is charged as an adult.
Prosecutors allege that Luye had multiple sexual encounters with five girls in Perry County and one in Farmington. Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf said authorities aren’t sure if there are other victims.
Authorities began an investigation after two middle school girls in Perryville were heard arguing about an older male both were involved with named Austin. An assistant principal became aware of the argument. The girls allegedly told the principal of the sexual encounters, and police were contacted.
Authorities say most of the victims were age 13.
