The Washington park committee decided to “pull back” its draft rental fees proposal for the concert stage and events center, which was tabled by the Washington City Council Dec. 17.

City council members planned to further review the draft proposal at its administrations/operations committee meeting Jan. 28.

The draft proposal outlined pricing for city-sponsored, private, nonprofit and commercial events. It also highlighted pricing for ticketed and nonticketed events, as well as other fees, including vendor fees, closing Veterans Drive and others.

“I don’t know that we really studied it as much as we probably should have,” said Tessie Steffens, park board member.

Dan Cassette said the board also needed to think about exempting the Chamber for the Washington Town and Country Fair.

“I think it would just be best if we pulled out of it and started over,” Cassette said, adding that the basics are there but need to be further studied.

Debbie Toedebusch, park board president, said the board needs to consider what other groups the policy will affect.

The committee plans to review the proposed fee schedule during its Jan. 6 board meeting, which will be held at 6 p.m. at city hall.
