Competing last Saturday at the Farmington Duals, St. Clair registered a 2-3 team record in five dual meets.
The Bulldogs posted wins over Poplar Bluff 37-36 and DeSmet 64-13.
Losses came against Hazelwood Central 42-30, Ste. Genevieve 66-12 and Farmington Gold, 40-26.
“We’ve been pretty banged up and sick in the past week or so and were missing some wrestlers,” said St. Clair Head Coach Brent Yule. “We had some young kids step up and fill their shoes nicely.”
Leading the Bulldogs on the day was Matt Gordon at 195 pounds, who registered a 4-1 record.
Kris Heembrock (106) posted a 3-2 record.
Also wrestling for the Bulldogs were Ethan Koenig (113 and 120), Ian Bowie (113), Thomas Maple (120), Chris Algiere (126), Chase Cohen (132), Austin Koenig (138), Garrett Guthrie (138), Guy Hopper (145), Hayden Norton (160), Dylan Nappier (160), Dustin Conner (170), Charles Dingley (195) and Tyler Fisher (285).
“Matt and Kris both wrestled well. We were able to take a lot from this tournament,” Yule said. “We are not in very good shape yet as a team, but that comes with more mat time.”
St. Clair wrestled Tuesday at Principia and competes in a three-team Four Rivers Conference meet against Union and Owensville Thursday at Union at 5 p.m.
