Washington’s finance manager, Mary Sprung, updated the city council on budget highlights for the proposed 2014 budget.
Sprung said all funds are in balance and have healthy reserves.
Other highlights a include a property tax revenue decrease of $221,000, or 10 percent;
An estimated 1 percent sales tax increase, or $40,000, is due to incoming businesses in the Phoenix Center development;
No salary or wage increases; and
An estimated 15 percent health insurance increase.
The budget will be presented at a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the city council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at city hall.
