Beaufort Elementary students will be served lunch today at Union High School.

School will be let out at 11:45 a.m. and parents may pick up Beaufort students at UHS or the children will be bused home.

All other students are at their respective school and will be released at 11:45 a.m.

Earlier story:

School has not been canceled Wednesday at Union Public Schools, but there is no penalty if students are not in class, according to district officials.

Superintendent Steve Bryant said there is no power at Beaufort and Central elementary schools.

Beaufort students have been taken to Union High School. Central Elementary students will remain at the elementary school.

Today is the last day of class for the school year.

"We're going to make things work as best as we can," said Bryant.

Classes are on a half-day schedule throughout the district and there is no change to the UHS or Union Middle School schedules.

"We're doing the best we can with a bad situation," Bryant said. "There is nobody in danger, it may be chaotic but everyone is safe and accounted for. The teachers are doing a great job making due."
