The St. Clair R-XIII School District plans to graduate 150 high school seniors this Thursday as the annual commencement exercises are scheduled to take place on the athletic field behind SCHS.
The ceremony will start at 8 p.m.
Principal Kevin Hillman said plans are to do everything the district can to conduct commencement outdoors. The forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of rain on Thursday and a 30 percent chance on Friday.
He said a decision will be made by 10 a.m. on Thursday if it is raining or if it is expected to rain heavily that night. Information will be placed on the district’s website announcing any changes, and a phone blast will be sent to patrons who have signed up for that service.
If inclement weather does cancel the ceremony on Thursday, then it will be moved to Friday with the same 8 p.m. starting time. If rain remains an issue on Friday, the event will be moved indoors to the SCHS gymnasium.
Hillman said parking will be available in various places around campus. Staff members will be on hand to assist. Golf carts will be available to transport individuals from distance parking to the event.
Hillman also is reminding parents and others that they will not be allowed on the athletic field — or on the gymnasium floor — to take pictures.
A professional photographer will be attending and will take pictures of each graduate. Parents are welcome to take as many pictures as they want at the stage after the ceremony concludes.
