A 27-year-old Union man was killed when the Jeep he was driving Friday night left the road, struck a tree and caught fire.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bryce R. Frankenberg was driving a 2005 Jeep Cherokee westbound on Whiskey Creek Road west of Cedar Lane at 11:35 p.m. when the vehicle left the road.

The Jeep rolled and ejected the driver. The vehicle then struck a tree and became engulfed in flames, the patrol said.

Frankenberg was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday at 12:43 a.m. He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
